Bill Donohue comments on last night’s episode of “The Real O’Neals”:

This week’s episode had Kenny visiting the First Unitarian church, invited by the vegan mother of a boy he is tutoring. “It’s very open,” she tells Kenny, who is gay. When he arrives—appropriately dressed for church—he sees what she means. It’s a free-for-all, with grunge clothing and a female minister who prays not to God, but “to whom it may concern.”

Jesus is there, too, and he asks Kenny if he’s feeling guilty about going to a Unitarian church. Kenny says no, if his own mother “can’t accept me for who I am, I’m just gonna be with people who can.” Jesus shrugs and says, “Can’t argue with that.”

Ultimately, it’s even too much for Kenny, who later confides to his mom, “It just doesn’t feel right, it isn’t mine.” And so the members of this “typical” Irish Catholic family continue their weekly stumbling existence, totally confused about who they are and what they believe. Of course, on this show, even Jesus can’t seem to figure out who he really is.
