Joy Behar
Joy Behar had the following to say about priests:

  • On February 18, 2009, when Barbara Walters asked Joy Behar what was the biggest sin among men, she said: “Lust among priests.”
  • On September 13, 2007, she said: “But like look at the Catholic Church and the priesthood. We all thought they were role models. They’re not anymore.”
  • February 7, 2007, she said: “If you have the impulse, not being an expert in the topic, you should follow your heart. That is why a lot of the priesthood is so screwed up right now.”

With regard to the Zimmerman case, she said the following:

  • On the July 15, 2013 episode of her new show, Behar talked about the Zimmerman case and about “unconscious racism, I think that’s the real conversation people need to have. It’s this unconscious and sometimes conscious racism that I feel we have not dealt with in this country.”

Whoopi Goldberg
Goldberg had no problem with the Belgian police profiling the Church:

  • In 2010, she defended the Belgian police’s decision to raid Catholic Church offices: “Speaking of which, the Vatican is so outraged after Belgian police conducted raids as part of a priest sex abuse investigation where they detained bishops, confiscated files, and even opened a crypt. I’m told they went in like storm troopers.” She added: “[Y]ou can’t be surprised they’re going to come in.”

Regarding the Zimmerman case, she had the following to say:

  •  In July 2013, she talked with George Zimmerman’s lawyers on The View. She asked one of the lawyers if Trayvon was spotted by Zimmerman “because he was a young black man?” The lawyer answered: “Because he is black can he never look suspicious?” Goldberg answered: “Walking down the street, I kind of think, no. Because I’m black. And I walk down the street. If somebody says I think you may snatch my pocketbook I’d be pissed, that’s just me.”

Bill Maher

  •  On July 19, 2013, he said: “This is World Youth Day for the Catholic Church… Show the picture of World Youth Day; I mean this is a big jamboree—look at that! This is where all the kids in the world get together with priests. What could go wrong?”

Following the Zimmerman verdict, he said the following:

  •  He expressed outrage on his Twitter account: “This is America waddya expect? The only thing u aren’t allow to kill in an instant is a fetus. Hey Zim, find another hobby now that you won.”
  • On David Letterman, it was mentioned that Maher was a minority owner of the New York Mets. He commented: “Better than being a minority in Florida.”

Kathy Griffin

  • In March 2011, Kathy Griffin sweepingly referred to priests as “kid f*****s.”
  • Regarding the Zimmerman case, on her Twitter account, she said he was “Very sad & shocked re verdict.”

Alec Baldwin

  • During the summer of 2012, Actor Alec Baldwin had an altercation with a photographer in New York City. Out of nowhere, Baldwin said to the photographer: “I know you got raped by a priest or something.”
  • After the Zimmerman case, he commented: “A ‘photographer’ almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning. #allpaparazzishouldbewaterboarded… I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over.”
